		<description>I think it&#039;s easier to discount humans when they are statistics rather than people.  I also think that it is a very common misconception that the bulk of costs for pharmecueticals is reasearch on drugs. Also a common misconception that nothing would be invented without the free market.
Most inventors (and scientists) that I know or have read about seem to be propelled by discovery itself rather than money or fame or success. The outrageous prices/inhuman marketing and disregard for human life comes from BUSINESS people, not reasearchers.
But these businesspeople are supremely effective at marketing themselves as the good guys with &quot;regrettable&quot; effects (like dying) that just cant be helped or solved.</description>
